How to Plan for Adding a Sunroom Extension to Your Roslyn Estates, NY Home
Do you love the outdoors and want to appreciate it more when you’re inside? Do you wish there were a way that you could fill your Nassau County home with more natural light? Would you and your family benefit from more usable living space? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then a sunroom extension would be a worthwhile investment, which is exactly why you’re planning on adding one!
A sunroom extension can be a wonderful addition to your Nassau County home. It will increase the square footage of your house, provide more living space where you and your family can dine, relax, and entertain, it will bring the outdoors in and allow you to take in the beauty of your property, and it will flood your house with natural sunlight and (when the screens are opened) fresh air. Yes, it’s safe to say that a sunroom extension is definitely beneficial; however, in order to ensure you get the best results possible, planning is an absolute must.
To help make the process go as smoothly and as successfully as possible, the following are some sunroom extension planning tips that experienced Roslyn Estates, NY all season sunroom designers recommend.
The first step in planning a successful sunroom extension is setting a budget. You don’t want to spend more than you can comfortably afford, so it’s important to make sure that you figure out how much you can put toward this home improvement project. If financing is an option that you’d like to consider, reputable Roslyn Estates, NY all season sunroom designers may offer options. Having an established budget will help you and your contractor create an effective strategy.
Establish Your Goals
Once you set a budget, you’ll want to sit down and figure out what your goals are; how you plan on using your sunroom extension. For example, do you intend on using it year-round or only when the weather permits? Will you be using it for a specific purpose, such as dining, relaxing, entertaining – or for all of these things and more? By identifying how you intend on using the space, planning the design and features will be a lot easier.
To ensure your sunroom extension project is a success, you’re going to want to hire a reputable and experienced Roslyn Estates, NY all season sunroom designer. Look for a company that is fully licensed and insured, that employs a team of talented and experienced designers, that is well-established, and that has a proven track record of success. Make sure you schedule consultations with prospective candidates. Ask to see their credentials, as well as a portfolio of their work. Ask for a list of references, too, and take the time to contact them.

Roslyn Estates was first developed in the early 20th Century (circa 1908) by Dean Alvord, who also developed Prospect Park South in Brooklyn and Belle Terre in Port Jefferson. It was nicknamed “The Eden of Long Island” when originally developed, due to the community’s design and setting.
In 1931, residents decided to try incorporating Roslyn Estates as a village, due to the fact that the original deed restrictions were set to expire around that time. Their efforts to incorporate were successful, and the Village of Roslyn Estates was incorporated on June 8, 1931.
In 1974, Mayor Robert D. Zucker attempted to have the boundaries of the Manhasset Park District redrawn to include the village after the district added an additional 260 parking spaces to the commuter parking fields at the Manhasset Long Island Rail Road station. Zucker stated that many Roslyn Estates residents preferred the Manhasset station over the closer Roslyn station due to the fact that service to/from Pennsylvania Station on the Port Washington Branch is direct, whereas a change at Jamaica is required on the Oyster Bay Branch. By having the district boundaries redrawn to include the village, Roslyn Estates residents would have the ability to be guaranteed a parking space at the Manhasset station for commuting to/from Manhattan. Officials from both North Hempstead and the Manhasset Park District, as well as Manhasset residents lamented the idea, given that Roslyn Estates is not part of the Greater Manhasset area, and felt that the needs of Greater Manhasset should be paramount for the Manhasset Park District. The proposal was ultimately denied.Learn more about Roslyn Estates.
