How to Plan for Adding a Sunroom Extension to Your Massapequa Park, NY Home
Do you love the outdoors and want to appreciate it more when you’re inside? Do you wish there were a way that you could fill your Nassau County home with more natural light? Would you and your family benefit from more usable living space? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then a sunroom extension would be a worthwhile investment, which is exactly why you’re planning on adding one!
A sunroom extension can be a wonderful addition to your Nassau County home. It will increase the square footage of your house, provide more living space where you and your family can dine, relax, and entertain, it will bring the outdoors in and allow you to take in the beauty of your property, and it will flood your house with natural sunlight and (when the screens are opened) fresh air. Yes, it’s safe to say that a sunroom extension is definitely beneficial; however, in order to ensure you get the best results possible, planning is an absolute must.
To help make the process go as smoothly and as successfully as possible, the following are some sunroom extension planning tips that experienced Massapequa Park, NY all season sunroom designers recommend.
The first step in planning a successful sunroom extension is setting a budget. You don’t want to spend more than you can comfortably afford, so it’s important to make sure that you figure out how much you can put toward this home improvement project. If financing is an option that you’d like to consider, reputable Massapequa Park, NY all season sunroom designers may offer options. Having an established budget will help you and your contractor create an effective strategy.
Establish Your Goals
Once you set a budget, you’ll want to sit down and figure out what your goals are; how you plan on using your sunroom extension. For example, do you intend on using it year-round or only when the weather permits? Will you be using it for a specific purpose, such as dining, relaxing, entertaining – or for all of these things and more? By identifying how you intend on using the space, planning the design and features will be a lot easier.
To ensure your sunroom extension project is a success, you’re going to want to hire a reputable and experienced Massapequa Park, NY all season sunroom designer. Look for a company that is fully licensed and insured, that employs a team of talented and experienced designers, that is well-established, and that has a proven track record of success. Make sure you schedule consultations with prospective candidates. Ask to see their credentials, as well as a portfolio of their work. Ask for a list of references, too, and take the time to contact them.

The village located on the South Shore of Long Island shares the early Native American history of Massapequa. Then, in the 19th century, families of German descent relocated from Brooklyn to what is now Massapequa Park, and the resulting community was known as Wurtenberg or Stadtwurtemburg. The main attraction and center of activity was the Woodcastle Hotel, a rooming house built in 1868 on Front Street next to the fire department as a summer resort. It was destroyed by fire in 1952 and replaced by houses.
In 1928 readers of The New York Times saw ads for Massapequa Park, a development built by a real estate firm owned by Michael J. Brady, Frank Cryan and Peter Colleran. The three Irish-Americans described their project as having a bit of Old Erin and the area between Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road still has its mostly Irish street names.
In 1931, Massapequa Park was incorporated as a village to ensure control of land use and other issues. Several dozen kit houses from Sears Roebuck were built in two different areas of the Village. These include some of the largest model kit houses offered by Sears.
